Tim Flanagan teaches social studies and photography at Stonington Middle School. During the 2016-17 school year, he took a leave of absence, sold his house, and set off on an adventure. He researched and taught for four months in Vietnam as a Fulbright Distinguished Teacher and spent the rest of the year volunteering, teaching, and traveling in Southeast Asia and Central America. Tim has also completed fellowships in Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Germany, and Cuba, in addition to personal travel in South America, Europe, and Asia. He writes about teaching, volunteering, and traveling on his blog, The Alternate Route (http://tflanagan.us/yearabroad/).
