Westerly Land Trust Summer Paddles- Mystic River, CT

Description

Join us for our free, guided kayak/canoe paddles on Thursdays. We will pass through various local conservation lands, including some of our own Westerly Land Trust preserves.  The paddle times will be between 1 ½ to 3 hours. We will meet at put in points and carpool to takeout sites unless otherwise stated. We will shuttle vehicles at 9:30 AM except as noted below. Be aware that our trips leave promptly Bring your own kayak/canoe, paddle, life jacket, whistle, water, snacks, etc. Some of us will go swimming. See www.westerlylandtrust.org for more details.

July 30           10:00 AM Mystic River – Mystic Seaport, Mystic, CT
 
We will launch @ 10:00 AM – no car shuttle. Put in is on River Road. From I-95 South: Take Exit 89; take right onto Mystic Street; take 1st right onto Cow Hill Road; take 3rd left onto Blindloss Road; take 1st left onto River Road; Put-in is on the right after the I-95 underpass. It's about 1.5 miles from I-95 to the put-in. We will paddle up to the seaport and beyond. 

PLEASE NOTE:

• PFD's: Personal flotation devices or Life Jackets MUST be worn by all our paddlers properly zipped and/or buckled at all times while on the water, in the manner intended by the manufacturer. Persons not willing to follow this requirement are not permitted on our trips. Inflatable PFD's are NOT allowed.

• Sound signal (whistle, horn, etc.) is required.
• If weather is questionable, contact leader. 
• Boat ramps can normally be used to launch canoes and kayaks but keep the boat ramp clear for boat trailers.
