Description
This is a flat easy walk over grassy trails and old runways from the former Charlestown Naval Auxiliary Landing Field to Grassy Point on Ninigret Pond, the largest coastal salt pond in RI. Then we'll hike over to the fishing access area and follow the Foster Cove Trail back. It'll be about 4 miles total. Hundreds of species of birds have been recorded at this refuge. Meet at the West Entrance off Rte 1 South. (The Refuge is South of Ninigret Park and has a separate entrance.) See the Westerly Land Trust's website for details for this event.
