Join the Chorus of Westerly for the first concert of our 2022-2023 Symphonic Concert Season and embark on a journey through the works of Franz Joseph Haydn and Caroline Shaw!
This concert pairs Haydn’s classical era masterpiece (originally subtitled Missa in Angustiis - “Mass for Troubled Times”, in reference to the instability of the world due to Napoleon’s expanded military campaigns into Austria and Egypt) with a work by Massachusetts-based composer Caroline Shaw (the youngest recipient of the Pulitzer Prize in Music) which focuses on “the suffering of those around the world seeking refuge, and of our role and responsibility in these global and local crises.”
This concert takes place at George Kent Performance Hall (119 High Street, Westerly RI). Individual tickets and season subscriptions are available now!
