Description
This year marks the 29th anniversary of the Westerly Community Credit Union Holiday Basketball Tournament. This tournament was created in 1984 as a way to bring together local school communities in a competitive way to collaboratively raise funds for their sports boosters. This event has become and continues to be a community tradition.
This year’s tournament will be held on December 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th at Westerly High School in Westerly, RI. Girls and Boys, JV and Varsity basketball teams from Chariho, Exeter-West-Greenwich, Stonington, and Westerly will participate in a “final-four” format to determine who will be the 2012 champions. Awards will be given: championship trophies, all-tourney teams, MVPs, and Sportsmanship awards.
As the sole sponsor since its inception, Westerly Community Credit Union underwrites all expenses of the Holiday Basketball Tournament and as always, donates every dollar of the gate proceeds directly to the participating schools sports boosters. Last year each school received $2,801.61! To date, this tournament has raised $166,398.25!
