SUMMARY:Fall Mushroom Hunting in Southern New England
DESCRIPTION:Learn firsthand how to safely enjoy our region's wild mushrooms. Join us to learn from Ryan Bouchard and Emily Schmidt\, creators of The Mushroom Hunting Foundation\, who will begin this immersion class with a slideshow of amazing all-local photography\, explaining the science and the safety rules of mushroom hunting\, and focusing on the autumn mushrooms that are considered "safe for beginners" to identify and cook for themselves. Then they will lead the group outdoors to find these mushrooms in their natural habitats\, demonstrating helpful tools and techniques for collecting\, and further discussing the many edible species of our region--some easy\, some more challenging. The grand finale will be a special cooking demonstration\, where participants will have the opportunity to sample several diverse and astonishing wild mushroom flavors. Masks required indoors.
