DESCRIPTION:As part of the Dante Society of Westerly's 50th Anniversary celebrations\, we welcome Consul General Minuti \n\nwho will discuss the Italian American relations and the importance of Italian Immigration to the US\, especially \n\nin the early and mid 20th century. \n\n\n\nConsul General Minuti is a career diplomat who has previously served as the Head of the Office for \n\nInternational Cooperation against Global Threats and Counterterrorism of the Directorate General for \n\nPolitical Affairs and Security at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFA). \n\nHe has served at the Embassy of Italy in Ethiopia and was Consul of Italy in Canada for the Provinces of \n\nAlberta and Saskatchewan. He was Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Italy in Mexico City and \n\nwas appointed Deputy Permanent Representative of Italy to UNESCO in Paris. In 2017\, he was promoted \n\nto the rank of Counsellor of Embassy. He is Lieutenant of the Carabinieri Corps (of the reserve) and is \n\nKnight of the Italian Republic.  \n\n\n\nThere will be a public reception following Consul General Minuti's remarks.
