DESCRIPTION:The Colonial Theatre's 2025 reading series\n\nSHAKESPEARE'S SUMMER SHORTS\n\nwill feature two comedic one acts: \n\nPERSONS OF THE PLAY\n\nby the Colonial dramaturg\, Robert Durwood Madison\n\nand\n\nSHAKESPEARE'S DEAD DAMES\n\nby David Overton\n\nPersons of the Play serves as a prelude\, introducing and contextualizing the characters in Shakespeare's Dead Dames.  Shakespeare's Dames find themselves stuck in a holding room until they are fortunate to re(live) their tragedy in another production of the play they die in.   It's a comic romp that evokes The Twilight Zone meets Luigi Pirandello's Six Characters in Search of an Author.\n\nBoth plays incorporate verse and everyday vernacular \n\nRUNNING TIME: approximately 75 mins.\n\n \n\nShakespeare's Summer Shorts runs\n\nAugust 13th through 16th\n\nin Wilcox Park\, Westerly\, RI \n\n.
